IFES Board Meeting

As every year the last IFES Board Meeting takes place on the occasion of the EDPA Annual Convention. This year the EDPA Convention will be held in Las Vegas from December, 4-6. The IFES Board Meeting will take place on December, 4. In the afternoon there will be a “Special behind the scene tour of Las Vegas” organized by EDPA especially for the IFES members. In the evening of December, 3, the IFES Reception will take place – another good opportunity for contacts and networking.

IFES is looking forward to this last meeting in 2003. The first year with the new IFES Management Office in Rheda-Wiedenbrück, Germany, will be reviewed and the activities for 2004 will now be discussed and determined.

The American Exhibit Designers and Producers Association EDPA looks back at a successful Annual Convention in December 4-6, 2003 in Las Vegas.

Germany

The German association FAMAB looks back on a very successful Annual Convention. This year the convention took place in Cologne from November, 6-7. The convention includes the German Eventday – a congress to latest trends in the exhibition-services- and event-marketing-sector –, the award-celebrations ADAM and EVA, an exhibition, AGM, get-together etc.

IFES Convention 24th till 26th of June 2004 in Lithuania

Economic growth will come in part from eastern European countries who will now be a part of the European Union. Because of this feeling, IFES has decided to accept an invitation from our newest member LIPSTA - Lithuania, to hold the next AGM in Vilnius, Lithuania from June 24-26, 2004.

Mark your calendar to join us at this next meeting to “share knowledge”, to learn more about the very interesting eastern European market and to open opportunities for your companies. More information on the IFES-website soon.

IFES works on the planned rules and regulations for security of the EU

IFES has the information that the EU prepares a new security-regulation for all exhibition centres in Europe at the moment.
IFES will work on that new regulation, contact the responsible persons and will, if necessary, be part of the EU-committee.

Successful IFES Convention 2003

The International Federation of Exposition Services met on June 25-27 in the vibrant city of Berlin to conduct the annual meeting of its members. Fourteen country representatives joined to share ideas and common interests regarding the global exhibition market. The IFES Convention was a big success. Interesting conversations, valuable information, good networking-possibilities and future-oriented decisions during the AGM – this is the result of this year’s convention. [ More information ]

Co-operation with UFI and AUMA

During the first half of this year 2003 IFES succeeded in co-operating closer with UFI and AUMA. The IFES Convention 2003 was honoured by Dr. Hermann Kresse, Managing Director of AUMA and Ruud van Ingen, Vice-President of UFI. They shared their thoughts and listened with interest as each country presented facts and figures on their country exhibition industry statistics. This was an excellent example of “Sharing Knowledge” at its best.
From 11th until 12th of June 2003 UFI held a waste-management-seminar in Gothenburg, Sweden in which IFES participated as well and shared information and experiences about this subject. (see below)

IFES Convention 2003

This year IFES will held its Annual General Meeting in Berlin from 25th until 27th of June. The motto of this convention is “Networking for mutual benefit”. Networking-forum, exhibition, country-presentations, meetings, workshop “Secrets to successful exhibiting in the U.S. and Germany“, get-togethers - all this will be part of the convention. Representatives of all IFES-member-countries announced their participation as well as Ruud van Ingen, Vice-President of UFI, Dr. Hermann Kresse, Managing Director of AUMA and representatives of the Polish association.

UFI-seminar about waste management

From 11th until 12th of June UFI held a waste-management-seminar in Gothenburg, Sweden. IFES-Vice-President Jose Maria Perez de Olocaechea represented IFES and held a speech about waste management. Waste management increases in the exhibition centres worldwide and it is important to work on this subject.

Since April 2003 IFES has a new web adress www.ifesnet.com. The website was updated with new content, more information and all IFES events.

IFES Board Meeting, Februar 7, 2003 in Paris, France

The first IFES Board Meeting of 2003 was in Paris on February 7, 2003 in Paris, France.

The main focus was laid upon the step to identify other national associations of exhibition designers and probably also event agencies in order to extend the nework in a global market. The IFES management office reports on the initial policies and steps to be done.
