Dear members and friends,

The beginning of the year has been a very interesting and challenging moment for IFES. We have been able to transform into facts, the concepts that were developed over the end of last year: the change in the membership structure. We are now proud to represent 7 national Associations and 70 companies worldwide, with a promise to increase that number to more than a 100! Every single one of them is now a full member of IFES!

Although we are very happy about this, we shouldn’t stop here. New exciting times are coming ahead. On the internal front, our Presidium has started implementing the new governing structure, with the creation of thematic committees. Our aim is to increase your involvement, and prepare the future of IFES.

The newly formed committees will see their chairpersons sit at the Board of Directors, and directly influence the way our Association functions.

IFES will now be able to approach the different aspects of our industry as separate issues, and increase its representation.

2010 is also the year of the World Expo of Shanghai, the best example of what our industry is about. IFES will therefore be there for its General Assembly and Convention on the 23rd and 24th of June. We have to keep abreast of new developments, new markets, and new business opportunities. What better way to do so than by giving you the possibility to join us in a one week study tour of the World Expo, and join the IFES convention?

Let’s not wait for us to meet, we now also provide great ways of interacting. Make sure you list your company on Expopedia, the virtual platform for business awareness and development. Keep up to date with your colleagues and friends in the industry by joining our LinkedIn group. This is what IFES is about: Sharing Knowledge.

New IFES Management Team!
 

We are pleased to introduce Juan Cabrera-Clerget who has joined our team and will take on the role of Executive Director of  IFES.

Juan is a French national, based here in Brussels and speaks French, English, Spanish and German. He comes to IFES with a background in Association Management, in particular 5 years experience as Executive Secretary for an International Association with a particular focus on Education and Training.

Juan also has recent experience as Head of External Relations for a higher education institute which is part of the University of Brussels. In one of his earlier positions, Juan was also responsible for planning and attending trade fairs as an exhibitor.

With his background and skills in Association Management, relationship management and communications, we are sure he will be an excellent addition to our team and an excellent resource for IFES. Juan will be in contact with all of you soon to introduce himself personally.
