IFES’ IDIA Award celebrates innovation excellence in 2023

08.09.2022 | IFES Press Releases, News | 0 comments

As an Association that pursues the goal of strengthening the innovative power of the industry and promoting accessibility to new products, the International Federation of Event and Exhibition Services (IFES) is celebrating innovation excellence within the industry with the second edition of the IFES Innovation + Development Award (IDIA).

Entries should represent outstanding new developments. Exhibition and Events industry stakeholders are encouraged to submit their exceptional and groundbreaking projects, production processes or services for consideration for the IDIA Awards 2023.  Registration is now open.

Judging will focus on the benefits of daily use, innovation, cost-effectiveness and sustainability of the entry. Both the innovation itself, and its use in a specific project, can be submitted for the award, allowing the complete range of innovations for the trade fair and event industry to be represented.

Entries may be made in one, or more, of the following categories;

  • Product – a product innovation or further development of an existing product which, through its use, simplifies daily life, increases efficiency and sustainability, and/or opens up design possibilities.
  • Service – a service that simplifies processes, and increases customer loyalty, efficiency, and sustainability.
  • Management / Production Process – new and changed management and/or manufacturing processes that increase the value of ESG (Environment/Social/Governance) aspects in a company resulting in higher efficiency, better CSR, reduction of the carbon footprint and/or higher transparency in management decisions.
  • Out of the Box – disruptive solutions that change communication before, during or after a trade show. Both ready-made solutions and creative approaches and concept developments are welcome in this category. This category is explicitly open to young people.

Award entries are open not only to IFES members but to the entire international community of designers, developers, manufacturers of products and services as well as end-users (who have applied a product or service in an actual project). Winners will benefit from promotional exposure across the IFES website, social media, PR, IFES Events, IFES’ official WorldView magazine and presentation within the IFES Global Village at EuroShop 2023 in Dusseldorf.

Entries close on 11th November 2022 and a select panel of judges will make the final selection and announcement in December. The official IDIA Awards ceremony will take place at EuroShop in Dusseldorf in February 2023

FACE VALUE – Live vs Digital Marketing

Since face to face marketing in all forms has been put on hold, virtual alternatives have been given more attention than in the past. Many of these virtual solutions are pretty darn creative as well. So while most all live events have been halted we must now begin to prepare for the return of live events with different requirements. As exhibit suppliers, our clients have grown to embrace some virtual methods as a temporary alternative. As I talk to many of my peers in the exhibit industry, they all express their desire to get back to doing what we have done as soon as possible. The truth is, we will not be doing what we have done in the past the same any longer. The rules of the game have now changed.
