Groupe GALIS & RE’UP: Giving Exhibition Materials a Second Life at RAISE Summit 2026

Project Overview

As the general installation partner for RAISE Summit 2026, held at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris, Groupe GALIS sought to go beyond delivering a high-quality event by integrating circular economy principles into the dismantling phase.

To achieve this objective, Groupe GALIs partnered with RE’UP, a specialist in material recovery and reuse within the events industry, to divert reusable stand materials from waste streams and ensure they found a meaningful second life.

The Challenge

Large-scale exhibitions generate significant quantities of materials during installation and dismantling. While many of these elements remain in excellent condition after the event, they are often discarded due to tight schedules and limited recovery processes.

For RAISE Summit 2026, the challenge was to identify reusable materials before dismantling, organise their collection efficiently, and redistribute them to organisations capable of extending their lifecycle.

Our Approach

The project was planned well before the event opened.

Working alongside the organiser, Groupe Galis and RE’UP identified the stands and organisational areas whose materials could be recovered. Throughout the build-up period, dedicated Recycling Rangers monitored sorting operations, advised contractors and exhibitors, and ensured reusable materials were kept separate from waste streams.

During dismantling, reusable components—including flooring, melamine panels, timber structures, counters, furniture, shelving, PVC flooring, carpets and decorative elements—were carefully collected, loaded into five semi-trailers, transported to RE’UP’s storage facility, inventoried and weighed before being redistributed.

Results

The collaboration produced measurable environmental and social benefits.

  • 20.52 tonnes of materials were recovered for reuse.
  • An estimated 30 tonnes of CO2 emissions were avoided through reuse rather than disposal.
  • Materials were collected from both exhibitor stands and organiser installations, representing 12.87 tonnes from stands and 7.65 tonnes from event infrastructure
  • Operations were supported by dedicated on-site team including a project manager, site supervisor, recycling rangers, forklift operators and five semi-trailers for logistics.

Creating Social Value

Beyond the environmental impact, recovered materials were redistributed to charities, cultural organisations, artists and reuse initiatives.

Beneficiaries included Secours Populaire, Les Ateliers MUE and Studio by RE’UP, where materials such as shelving, counters, lino flooring, partitions, furniture and structural elements were reused for social projects, artistic creations and future event productions.

This approach demonstrates that exhibition materials can continue creating value long after an event has closed.

Looking Ahead

For Groupe Galis, sustainability is becoming an integral part of event delivery rather than an additional service. By working with partners such as RE’UP, we are helping transform temporary exhibitions into opportunities for circular resource management.

RAISE Summit 2026 demonstrates that collaboration across the event supply chain can significantly reduce waste, lower carbon emissions and create lasting social impact—while maintaining the high standards expected of world-class exhibitions.
