  • Last week, the company MONTECOLINO, located in Provaglio d’Iseo, has witnessed developments of the first Observatory on Installations, participated in the 14th EWWR – European Week of Waste Reduction and has also supported the Net Zero Carbon Event movement.

Provaglio d’Iseo, November 16th – Since 2021, thanks to the “MontECOlino recycling carpet” project, 1.413.436 kg of carbon dioxide has been saved, an equivalent of 64.247 trees. The system created by the company in Provaglio d’Iseo provides an innovative way of recovering the carpet at trade fairs.

In detail, the carpets delivered to the fairs, once the event is over, is removed, bundled and loaded in special containers that will convey it to the appropriate pressing and reduction plants. This is to allow regranulation, which is necessary to re-enter it into the various production cycles and replace virgin raw material.

Thanks to the collaboration of Fiera Milano, Fiera Vicenza, Fiera Verona, Fira Barcelona and the contribution of some customers such as Prostand and Moqueredi, 1.244.519 square meters of carpet has been installed in exhibition events.

The results obtained in this two-year period have been accompanied, in the last week, by some important events for the Franciacorta reality of MONTECOLIO, which has witnessed the developments of the first Observatory on Staging, it has participated in the 14th EWWR – European Waste Reduction Week and it has also supported the Net Zero Carbon Event movement.

In particular, last Thursday, on the 10th of November, at the Rimini Fair, on the occasion of the event Key Energy – The Renewable Energy Expo – by the “Osservatorio Allestimenti”, the workshop entitled Smart energy distribution for events: new technologies and trends was held, the first meeting dedicated to temporary architecture for the sustainable economy decline in business spaces.  Prostand began the initiative, wanting to design the stand of the future with the aim of developing issues related to energy, sustainability and health.

Montecolino took the lead in the sustainabilty aspects, earning the esteem of the Prostand CEO, Roberto Bondioli.

“Our results and the esteem of our partners, gained at the Rimini event, make us proud and aware of our commitment to the environment” – comments Nico Fontana, CEO of Montecolino.

Wèp, wallECOpannel, presented during this event represents the evolution of the concept of eco design. No longer just product but eco-design of the environment because, from the carpet using an extrusion process, you produce a rigid panel that becomes recyclable wall for the exhibition stands. The same composition of floor and wall allows the creation of a mono-material environment, more easily recyclable because it is free from foreign and polluting materials. Another step forward, therefore, towards a sustainable trade fair future”.

On Friday 11 November, on the occasion of the Ecomondo Fair, Montecolino  participated in the press conference presentation of the 14th EWWR – European Week of Waste Reduction, which this year has as its main theme the reduction of textile waste with the claim that “textile waste is out of fashion”.

During the European Week for Waste Reduction, many events are planned such as Milano autoclassica (from 18 to 20 November) and Milan Games Week & Cartoomics (from 25 to 27 November). With Prostand, instead, there was an action at the Vicenza Fair with the recovery of all the carpet of the event “Pescare Show”, from 18 to 20 November, during the week of EWWR. EWWR was also the occasion to talk about a significant experience carried out in collaboration with the Spanish company Moqueredi, which together with FIRA Barcelona developed  Montecolino’s first international project. This important and significant action not only achieved the recycling of about 200.000 m2 of carpet in its first year of experimentation, but has shown that the Montecolino’s recycling carpet project has no borders and that it can develop internationally in the future. The carpets laid and recovered for these events are clearly part of the shared project started.

Finally, also on Friday, November 11, coinciding with Cop 27 and the launch of the Road Map, Montecolino has chosen to support the Net Zero Carbon Event movement which involves more than 440 signatories from all over the world.

NZCE is a movement that involves trade fairs, event organizers and suppliers of goods and services and requires its signatories to sign a concrete commitment to reduce their environmental impact (by 2030 of 50% and by 2050 arrive at zero impact). In addition to economic support, Montecolino also participates in the program that has the task of defining the path that will lead to the neutrality of the sector.
