IFES members are actively involved in UFI’s Sustainable Development Working Group, contributing to wider industry discussions on sustainability, inclusion and practical progress across the exhibition sector.

The group provides a valuable platform for exhibition industry organisations to exchange knowledge, recognise effective approaches and share practical examples from across the global sector. As part of this work, the group is defining six best practices for the exhibition industry in the area of inclusion, helping to create a clearer and more consistent framework for organisations seeking to strengthen their approach.

This work reflects the understanding that sustainability extends beyond environmental performance. It also means creating exhibitions, events and workplaces where people from different backgrounds, abilities and experiences can participate fully, contribute with confidence and feel that they belong. Inclusion therefore needs to be considered not as a separate initiative, but as an integral part of responsible event planning and delivery.

By bringing the service-provider perspective into these discussions, IFES is helping to ensure that the emerging guidance is relevant, practical and applicable throughout the event delivery chain. This includes the early stages of planning and design, as well as production, onsite operations, accessibility, communication and the overall visitor experience.

Through its involvement, IFES is supporting greater knowledge sharing and collaboration across the sector, while helping members and industry partners translate broad inclusion goals into practical action.
