I was invited to participate as a panelist with the Vice Minister of Tourism of Panama and the UFI representative for Latin America in this important forum. I had the opportunity to talk a bit about the importance of the exhibition industry that I represent and how we are facing the pandemic situation. In my speech I explained the importance of our sector to reactivate the economy where statistically it is a segment that generates a lot of business and supports the value chain that integrates them. With the alarm of convention centers shut down and cancellations of scheduled events, we globally activate all partnerships with IFES, IAEE, COCAL, UFI, MPI, PCMI, ICCA and others around the world to work together and develop protocols security and reopening plans. We are an industry with great talents and great professionals. All this in order to educate, create security and trust to our customers and the public. The crisis has brought us opportunities. They have made us advance faster in the use of virtual and hybrid technologies. It has allowed us to explore new routes to prepare and be more united globally. It is important to host small local events and practice protocols and make adjustments as needed before the grand opening. We are the ones who create the future and we are preparing ourselves so that its reopening is efficient, safe and successful. Virtual versions should only be taken as a tool and cannot be replaced by physical presences. The Management Office of IFES shared some important notes about protocols.
