ABOUT THE PROJECT

In 2013, Scan Display introduced the Sustainability Village at the International Federation of Exhibition & Event Services’ (IFES) World Summit in Cape Town. The Sustainability Village showcased arts and crafts made by local vendors, and conference delegates and speakers were given vouchers they could use to buy gifts from the Village.

The Sustainability Village concept was used at Meetings Africa 2014 and has been used at every subsequent Meetings Africa show and at several other events in South Africa.

THE RESULT

The beauty of the Sustainability Village concept is twofold: locally made products (rather than imported products) are displayed and promoted, creating employment for local artisans, and delegates can choose mementos that they would keep and use, resulting in a sustainable gifting solution.
