ABOUT THE PROJECT
We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint (ref pledge Net Zero Carbon Event 2050). After carrying out a carbon audit, we realised that the biggest source of emissions within the GALIS Group is the input.
Our client UBISOFT who is very engaged in sustainability asked us to take part of the the french video games federation’s sustainable charter. As they are the organizer of the Paris Game Week through COMEXPOSIUM in a venue of VIPARIS (ISO 20121 certified) the whole value chain is represented.
We worked for them in 2022 and 2023. In 2022, we proposed a project (650m²) complete with a carbon calculation. The stand emitted 19.606 tCO2eq (from design to dismantling).
For 2023, our joint objective with our client was to reduce the stand’s carbon footprint by 700m². To achieve this, we have put in place a number of measures:
- Low-energy LED lighting
- Limiting the height of partitions
- Reusing elements such as the sign (rotated 4 times) and the mezzanine (10 times)
- Removal of carpets from stand aisles
- Stage furniture and barriers reused 4 times
- Space reused on another event in Le Mans
- Furniture rented
As a result, the 2023 stand emitted 10,734tCO2eq, representing a 41% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and a CO2 gain of 8,872tCO2eq. For 2024, 48% of the stand’s components will be reused.
To finish, another aim shared by the organizer and the exhibitor was the accessibility for all disabilities : visual impairment, with seats for accompanying persons, signs for queues printed in Braille and dedicated spaces. Hearing impairment, with staff trained in sign language to help visitors discover the games and access the activities on stage. People with reduced mobility: aisles over 1.50m wide, 90cm wide storage doors, furniture 70cm high with space to accommodate them ergonomically, a platform to get on stage like everyone else.
It was one of our booth that we are really proud of and we would to thanks again our client for their trust on our company since so many years.
